Americans' Acceptance of Gay Relations Crosses 50% Threshold
Good News! Take a few moments, pour yourself a cup of coffee and read the following article. It includes recent results from the Gallup poll. Americans' support for the moral acceptability of gay and lesbian relations crossed the symbolic 50% threshold in 2010. Among Catholic Americans those viewing gay relationships as morally acceptable changed from 46% in 2006 to 62% in 2010. We still have much work to accomplish; however, we have passed a very significant turning point.

Does this mean that American Catholics (once again) are discovering that the NCCB is out of pace with the Church? Between 2006 and 2010, the Bishops have attempted to make "Church teaching" on this subject clear. Either the faithful are not swayed, or they are answering to a stronger voice. Dorothy Day would be proud.
I think it is significant that acceptance by Catholics of gays has risen from 46% to 62%. I think we can thank the bishops in part for this. It seems that some of the bishops have been picking on gays lately and using them as scapegoats. This is making a lot of people think and they see the wrong in what many Church leaders are doing. After the abuse crisis, when it comes to issues of human sexuality, the bishops don't have a lot of moral authority.
Just catching up on several posts. Too much for me to comment on. Thank you and your readers for your insights and news..
Did you get piece of information? I’m sure you did.
An unprecedented statement of support was made by
Roman Catholic
Cardinal Schönborn of Vienna that
“LASTING GAY RELATIONSHIPS DESERVE RESPECT.”

Its just a matter of time. As the under 30s replace the over 50s the numbers will be even higher.
