He was the go to man.
He would come home night after night depressed over the stories he heard from victims. Some very painful-his job defend the Bishops and diocese from their own evil.
After five years, many stories, depositions and court hearings (listening to Bishop Steinbock lie as he did in the court case in Santa Rosa) and almost the cost of our marriage my husband left the diocese. On his last day Bishop John forced him to fire an employee and friend, which haunts him to this day. There is evil in our church from the top down - is it any wonder my children choose not to follow the Catholic church? My husband and I raised catholic from birth believe in our faith but not the men in black.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2850096231666604.post-35065596443889603162010-03-15T18:59:11.803-07:002010-03-15T18:59:11.803-07:00The Pope and Bishops see the crisis as one of laps...The Pope and Bishops see the crisis as one of lapsed vows and sin. They should treat this as an abuse of authority and law. Covering up a scandal just creates two scandals.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2850096231666604.post-6763125968308238002010-03-13T13:35:19.982-08:002010-03-13T13:35:19.982-08:00I remember back when the abuse crisis first hit th...I remember back when the abuse crisis first hit the papers here in the USA. Benedict was then Cardinal Ratzinger and he tried to place the blame for the scandal on the press, looks like they are trying to do the same thing with this.

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/14/world/europe/14pope.html?hp

You are very right in your post, Father, that anything that happens in the diocese, the bishop is ultimately responsible, but I can't see Benedict manning up and saying so in this case. And I hope the press doesn't let him off the hook too easily either. It is long past time when Rome had to admit to her errors and do some major penance. However, I fear they'll just find more scapegoats to take the fall. And I also foresee a major anti-gay witchhunt coming up. After all, blame it on the queers/and/or the dangers of same-sex marriage seems to be Rome's game plan these days.In the Kitchen With Donhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02684082081383552666noreply@blogger.com
